Memories in Flint

Flint remembers facts about your profile and preferences. This guide covers how that looks and how you can manage memories in Flint.

Sparky, your AI assistant in Flint, is built to be as helpful as possible, supporting teachers' teaching and students' learning. In order to personalize future interactions, Sparky may sometimes collect memories about you from your conversations.

What does Sparky remember?

Sparky saves two types of information about you: profile information and preferences.

Profile information

This includes facts about who you are as a member, such as:

  • Your grade level or the grade levels you teach/support
  • Subjects you teach
  • Your school or district

Preferences

This includes facts about how you work and what you like, including:

  • Your teaching or learning goals
  • Preferred communication styles
  • Learning preferences and study methods
  • Interests and hobbies

Sparky will not save random trivia, daily facts, or sensitive information like role claims (e.g., "I'm an administrator"). Memories are kept concise — no more than a few sentences each.

Where do I see stored memories?

You can view all your memories in your profile settings:

  1. Click your name in the sidebar

Here you'll see a list of everything Sparky has remembered about you, organized by category.

How do you create memories?

There are two ways memories are created: automatically during onboarding and by asking Sparky in conversation.

When you first set up your Flint account, you answer questions about your role, grade level, subjects, and goals.

Simply tell Sparky what you'd like to be remembered. For example:

  • "Remember that I prefer visual examples over text explanations."
  • "Please remember I teach AP Chemistry and Physics."
  • "Remember that I learn best through practice problems."

Sparky will confirm when a memory has been saved.

How do you modify memories?

You may want to edit or remove memories. This can be done either through your profile settings or by asking Sparky.

  5. Click the "X" button next to any memory you want to remove

By asking Sparky

Just tell Sparky what needs to change in any conversation. For example:

  • "I no longer teach 5th grade — I moved to 8th grade this year."
  • "Update my memory to say I teach Biology instead of Chemistry."

Sparky will update the relevant memory for you.

What happened to memories from previous onboarding?

If you completed the onboarding survey before the memories feature launched, your responses have been automatically converted to memories. This includes:

  • Grade levels you teach or support
  • Subjects you teach
  • Your teaching or learning goals
  • Learning style preferences
  • Interests you shared

You can view and manage these converted memories in your profile settings, just like any other memory. If anything looks outdated, simply edit or remove it.
