Why create a pre-assessment in Flint?
There are three main reasons creating pre-assessments can be impactful while using the Flint platform:
- To measure how Flint supports student learning during the ADEK pilot
- To establish a baseline score before students fully learn a unit
- To give the same activity again later as a post-assessment to measure improvement over time.
How do you create a pre-assessment in Flint?
Go to app.flintk12.com.
This will take you to the homepage, where you can chat with Sparky.
Tell Sparky you want to create a pre-assessment.
📌 Here is a message template: "I want to create a pre-assessment for my [Grade Level] [Class Name] class. It should be 10 multiple-choice questions that test their current knowledge of [Unit], and the goal should be to assess their knowledge on [Unit]."
Attach any relevant material.
This includes materials like your lesson plan, readings, or syllabi. You can add attachments by dragging and dropping a file into the chat window or clicking the paperclip icon.
Press enter or click the send icon.
Click "Start Activity Builder."
📌 Note: Before you see the button at the bottom of your screen, Sparky may ask you some follow up questions to get more context on the unit in order to make the best pre-assessment possible.
Tell Sparky the activity should be graded as a percentage.
You'll then be directed to the activity builder for the pre-assessment activity. In the chat window, tell Sparky, "The activity should be graded as a percentage."
Wait until Sparky has updated the activity.
Click "Create activity."
Share the activity with your students.
What if I already administered the pre-assessment?
No worries! All you have to do is calculate the percentage score by dividing the number of correct answers by the total number of questions asked.
